<Method of using JHP rental phones> <Delivery System> Can I pick a cell phone up or return it at the airport? In order to avoid troubles such as flight change and change of arrival gates, at this point JHP does not provide phone pick-up at the airports. Instead, we will deliver the phone to the address that you will be staying at (i.e. your hotel) with a small carrier fee. Base on our experience, this is the best way to ensure that you will receive the phone. The easiest way to return the phone is to drop it off at the front desk or the bell desk when you check out of the hotel. If the airport has "Sagawa-Kyubin" (JHP's official carrier), you can also return the phone by dropping it off at the Sagawa-Kyubin's counter. For instance, Narita airport's 1st and 2nd terminals have a "Sagawa-Kyubin" counter. If you choose to drop the phone off at the Sagawa-Kyubin counter at the airport, you are responsible for the return delivery fee upfront. Please click here for more information about the return counters at Narita Airport. How long does it take for delivery after the reservation? JHP's office hour is Monday through Friday, 10:00am to 6:00pm, except for the Holidays (Click here for the Japanese Holiday Calendar). The phone could be delivered to you by noon the next day if you are within the Tokyo metropolitan areas. Please note that the aforementioned is true only if the order is made before 4:00pm Monday through Friday. There is no additional shipping charge for this service. If you urgently need the phone, it could also be shipped to you via the motorcycle express delivery service. The cost depends on the distance from our office to the location where you would like to receive the phone. The additional service fee will be charged to your final bill. In general, if it is within the Tokyo Metropolitan areas, the approximately cost for the motorcycle express service is 3,000 yen. Do we deliver to other cities besides Tokyo? Yes. If your order is made by 4:00pm Monday through Friday (except for the Holidays), we could deliver the phone to you by the next evening even if you are staying outside of Tokyo such as Osaka (except for the airport). Unfortunately the same-day delivery is not available for cities that are outside of Tokyo. To the far distance cities such as Kyusyu, Shikoku, Hokkaido, and Okinawa, the next-day delivery may not be available. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you make a reservation at least three business days prior to the need of the phone. Also, please e-mail us beforehand regarding to special delivery to divisions like American Military Base, government agency, etc. <Plan fees> How would you charge airtime? The Inner Timer that is set up in the mobile phone you rent records the total number of usage minutes. Among the airtime usage minutes, international calls are charged separately base on the record sent by the overseas call center. The total bill is the sum of the domestic call minutes plus the total amount of the overseas call usage. However, if you use Docomo phones, the Inner Timer automatically shows the sums of both dialed and received airtimes. Since we have no way of separating the two airtimes, we charge by the total number of airtimes used. However, Docomo's rate is much lower than AU's rates. Regardless of which cellular phone plan that you choose, all of the JHP cellar phones come with a free e-mail service. Which of the three plans is the best one for me? The below helpful tips could assist you in finding the right plan. Please note that there is a chance that you may not be able to choose the desired plan during the high season. We have a limited number of mobile phones and they do go fast. Plan A: Docomo Plan is good for… l Not too many incoming calls l Seldom use more than 5 min/day Plan B: AU Flat Plan is good for… l Many incoming calls l Many international calls Plan C: AU Split Plan is good for… l Many incoming calls l Not many international calls (Mostly domestic calls)
Please tell me about the billing and airtime details. In general, JHP will send you the final bill and statement via the e-mail or fax within 3 weeks after the return of the rental mobile phone. A detailed call report that shows all outgoing calls is also available upon request. Please note that it may take up to 6 weeks for AU to get us that information. How can I make the rental payment? JHP accepts only credit cards (Amex, Visa and Master). We calculate the airtime you use after the phone is returned. Once the total airtime usage is determined, JHP will add up the delivery fee & all other optional fees (if any) to provide you a final balance. JHP will then send you a balance notice via the e-mail or fax. The total amount will be charged to your credit card that you have with us. Why does JHP require a minimum rental periods and/or minimum usage (5 min) per day (for AU plans)? When you use JHP's rental phone, it takes one day for delivery and another day for return. In order to provide efficient service to our customers, we ask our customers for a minimum three-day rental. However, if you are staying at one of our contracted hotels (click here), you may rent the phone for only 1 or 2 days. The minimum charge of 5 minutes for outgoing calls per day (for AU plans only) is a requirement. This policy exists because incoming calls are free for all AU plans, therefore, we have a minimum usage fee for the basic lines. The minimum charge does not apply on a daily basis if the total usage time exceeds the minimum requirement. For example, if you rent the phone for three days, the minimum charge of 3 days rental is 15 minutes (3 days x 5 minutes per day). However, if you use more than 15 minutes of outgoing minutes within those three days, the minimum charge is eliminated. A good illustration would be: you rented a phone from us for 3-days. On the first day, you used 3 outgoing minutes. On the second day, 2 minutes were used. Finally, on the third day, you used 12 minutes. In this case, the total outgoing call minutes is 17 minutes, therefore, you will not see a minimum charge because we will be charging you for 17 minutes total. On the other hand, if you use only 12 outgoing minutes within those three days, we will bill you for 15 minutes. NOTE: Docomo plan has NO minimum charge applied. <How to use JHP rental cellar phones> Can I make international calls from the cellular phone? Yes. With easy touch, you can call anywhere in the world using JHP's mobile phones. All overseas calls go through the JHP's international call center that has one of the highest quality standard. You can NOT use other international call providers such as KDDI (using 001), Japan Telecom (using 0041), or pre-paid telephone cards. Please note that if you use other international call providers, there may be duplicate charges (by your provider and by JHP). Can I find out the phone number and the e-mail address that I will be using before the rental period? Yes. If you use the "Reserved Phone Number" option, JHP will provide you with the mobile phone number and e-mail address beforehand. The phone number and e-mail address will be sent to you via the e-mail or fax. You may use this convenient option to obtain your information prior to your departure. <Benefits for using JHP phones> JHP is a pioneer rental mobile phone company in Japan. JHP has provided excellent services to our customers since 1997. In our opinion, it is extremely critical for busy business people to have a mobile phone that is dependable. Another factor is affordable rate, and most importantly, the functions within the phone must be simple & easy to use. JHP's phones have all of the aforementioned and we offer three different plans for our customers to enable our customers to choose a plan that is most suitable to their needs. JHP provides FREE e-mail services. All JHP mobile phones have e-mail capability. It's absolutely FREE! This e-mail function is useful because you no longer need to carry a laptop computer in order to communicate with your family or business associates. Our Docomo plan can send and receive up to 500 letters per e-mail. AU plans enable you to send 1,000 letters and receive 10,000 letters at a time. Please note that all of the above plans have the ability to send and receive text messages only (No capability to send/receive graphics or attachment files). Step 1 Please complete the reservation form on this website and submit it to JHP. Note: JHP's website uses a secured system through a SQL server to automatically encode your personal information. However, if you are not comfortable with submitting your credit card information via the net, please download the reservation form, print it out, complete the form, and fax it back to us. We will process the request here in Tokyo for you. Step 2 Once we received the approval for your credit card transaction, we will work with the hotel that you will be staying at to confirm your arrival date. Then a confirmation and agreement form will be faxed or e-mailed back to you. Please authorize the transaction by signing the form and fax it back to us. This will complete your reservation process. Step 3 JHP will then deliver your rental phone to the hotel the evening before you check-in. As long as your reservation with JHP is made two days prior to the actual rental date, we should be able to deliver the phone to you without any problem. Note: If you make a reservation by 4:00 pm the day before the actual rental date, the phone should arrive to you by noon on the rental day. Is returning the phone simple? Yes. All you have to do is… 1) Put the rental phone, phone cover, and the charger into the bag that JHP provides you when the phone is delivered to you. 2) Leave it at the front desk of the hotel when you check out. The bag has all the return address information already. You DO NOT need to write your name or address on the bag. You also DO NOT need to pay additional delivery fee. If you pay the delivery fee upfront by accident, JHP will not charge you a return delivery fee on the final bill. You could see this information on the final statement. 3) If your hotel doesn't utilize the Sagawa-Kyubin carrier, please ship the phone back with whatever carrier that the hotel uses. In this case, please make the delivery fee payable to JHP (the receiver). Is it okay to return the phone at a different place from where you pick-up the phone? Yes. As long as you place a rental cell phone in the bag JHP provides, you can return the phone at any Sagawa-Kyubin counters in Japan including local convenience stores. If the phone is returned from the airport, you have to pay a return delivery fee upfront. Therefore, for your convenience, JHP recommends that you drop the phone off at the hotel when you check out. Please note that JHP will have additional fees for all delays of the phone return. Is there any hotel that provides JHP rental phone service? Yes. The below hotels offer our rental phone services for all of their guests. Rental fees and airtime fees are the same. However, if the phone is rented directly from the hotel, there is NO delivery charge. Furthermore, there is NO minimum rental period requirement. The phone could even be rented for one or two days. I'd like to learn more about these features. JHP's mobile phones are made by Panasonic or Fujitsu. They are very high in quality and light in weight. Although they have multiple functions, the basic features are very simple. The mobile phones come with a user's guide. |
